    Restaurant JAN’S boudoir interiors lure the in-crowd with whimsical duck-blue walls, 18th-century antiques, and crystal chandeliers, genuine oak but it’s his haute comfort cooking that keeps them coming back for more.

    A Gatsby theme now permeates this stylish, 35-seater eatery, which is harmonised by songs of the Roaring Twenties, American big bands and scatterings of South African stars.

    Jan-Hendrik’s early years in art and photography reflect in the décor, presentation and décor. Each course is decorated like a still life. Large white plates resembling water lilies are a canvas for dashes of colourful carrots and pumpkin resembling Miro paintings.

    Splashes of mashed potato, cauliflower mousseline, a delicate drop of ginger jelly, or deep dark meat sauce reminiscent of enriched Bovril, offset patterns, shapes, and textures.
