• Unveiling the Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival 2017

The 2017 theme “unveil the sensory, timeless treasures and indulge in the secrets of the vine” holds true in every bottle as you “discover the nuances of fruit, flowers and oak”. We We encourage you to compare grapes, terroirs, and tastes at the 2017 Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival at Summer Place on May 16 and 17th.

Showcasing limited quantities of wines with a “sense of place” in South Africa’s longest running, most innovative wine festival is constantly rewarding. At the same time our 17-year Standard Bank sponsorship enables us to satisfy palates, stimulate debate, and provide an optimum experience for both winery and taster.  It’s what our reputation is built on.

Each year we aim higher and 2017 promises to be our best festival so far, as hand picked boutique wineries and cellar-celebs share their limited production labels and present innovative blends.

It's a time to taste, experience, and interact with great names, or simply learn how to distinguish a Chenin Blanc from a Chardonnay.  Enter the blind tasting competition to represent the international South African Wine Tasting Team,  learn how to detect a faulty wineor discover how wine tastes different when tasted out of different coloured glasses.

Manzart, who showcases the best of South African Contemporary Art in the heart of Franschhoek, will exhibit artists such as Donna McKellar, Leila Fanner, Vanessa Berlein, Karin Miller, Lisette Forsyth & Caitlin Truman-Baker.

Other exciting exhibitors this year include Robyn Davie Photography, Derek Ramsden’s Cape Wine Master Tutored Tastings, Pierre Jourdaan Popsicles, Ice Tropez wine based cocktails, Swissfireplace and Coravin Decanters.  Making their debut in 2016, 3D virtual winery tours was a world first using “winery street view footage” Juliet Cullinan established with Google in 2009.

There will also be an array of attractively-priced gastronomic options for the hungry from Jem Catering, The Oyster Lady and Gonedsa Cheeses.

Christian Lee Creative combines  Abstract Art, Haute Couture, Select Event Production including music, sound Installation and literature.

Christian Lee and Juliet Cullinan created "Fashion and Flavours- The Art of Taste". Designer collections are paired with different grape varieties to highlight the flavours of wines and styles in fashion.

We will feature Clive Rundle, a South African Art & Fashion icon with Haute Couture from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and Paris & New York.   The Clive Rundle label is highly acclaimed, synonymous with distinctive style, design, and African influence.

Over time our audience has changed. No longer the exclusive domain of knowledgeable keen wine lovers, the festival now also attracts the millennial tasters wanting immediate gratification with “wow wines” to post on social media.  They provide refreshing viewpoints complementing those of the loyal connoisseurs still with us 27 years later.

Exchanging knowledge and forging friendships over discussions of style and maturation elevates the journey from the vine to an experience of a lifetime.

Come and share a glass with me at this year’s Festival!
